Go For Cocktail On Couch This Mothers Day
Whoever the significant women in your life are, Mother's Day is an excellent opportunity to show them that we love them through gestures both grand and small.
Breakfast In Bed has always been an Aussie classic, but mum's getting sick of picking croissant out of the doona afterwards. So this year we're going Cocktail On Couch - using NED Australian Whisky of course - so that the feet are still up but the bed is crumb-free.
Here's our NED Feet-Up Citrus Fling, an easy-to-make, easy-to-drink and pleasingly complex cocktail using NED. We're taking the smooth texture and rich flavours of the whisky and lifting it with citrus and mint.
What Ya Need:
60ml NED Australian Whisky
30ml orange juice
15ml lemon juice
15ml simple sugar syrup
A handful-ish of mint leaves
Orange skin and/or a small wedge
Remember, close enough is good enough when it comes to the measures and feel free to adjust to your preferences. Nothing wrong with turning up or down the citrus levels.
What Ya Need To Do:
1. In a shaker, or something that looks like one, muddle the mint leaves with the simple sugar syrup and lemon juice. Muddle just means to massage the leaves into the juices, releasing flavours. Don't bash, life's too short for that.
2. Add the whisky, orange juice and some ice into your shaker (or that thing that looks like one).
3. Shake well or until your arms get tired or you get bored. If your thing that looks like a shaker doesn't have a top, find one before shaking.
4. Strain into a rocks glass, or whatever glass is closest.
5. Garnish with a sprig of mint and zest the top with a bit orange peel. Add a thin orange wedge if you want.
6. Enjoy and repeat.
